Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2022

Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2022

Weingut Zotz is situated in Markgräflerland on the edge of the Black Forest, where once the ancient Romans, and then later the Maltese, cultivated vines. The expansive family enterprise, with eighty hectares of vineyard, has been producing notable wines for years now. The extract-rich Weissburgunder and Grauburgunder, and the mineral-creamy Chasselas (Gutedel), are all wonderful. The Pinot Noirs are also getting better and better – possibly as a result of global warming, which now makes the Heitersheim and Badenweiler vineyards a real comfort zone for Pinot Noir. Meanwhile, even Syrah, a variety from the Rhône Valley, is able to ripen here!
