Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

The traditional winery of the Jurtschitsch family with its 16th-century vineyard and 700-year-old natural cellar is one of Austria's most beautiful wineries. Alwin and Stefanie Jurtschitsch take care of their vines and wines with much love and feeling. Out of conviction and closeness to nature, they decided in 2006 to convert the winery to controlled organic-biological farming methods. It is a matter of course that the conversion of their vineyards is also accompanied by a rethinking of the winemaking process. The site wines are fermented with the vineyard's own yeasts in large wooden barrels.

The old cellar vaults, which were revitalized in 2016, offer optimal ripening conditions for the wines from the "fillets" of the great vineyards in the Kamptal: Zöbinger Heiligenstein, Loiserberg, Dechant, Schenkenbichl, Käferberg, Lamm and Tanzer. Hardly any other Austrian winery manages to offer the best quality across the entire range with such reliability. Over the years, milestones have also been set for the region in red and sweet wines. The uncompromising quality work is confirmed by numerous recurring national and international awards. The "GrüVe®" is considered a bestseller in gastronomy and specialised trade. This youthful, light Grüner Veltliner with its label by Christian Ludwig Attersee has outlasted many wine fashions and fashionable wines at home and abroad.
