Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

Until 1973, the estate was run as a mixed agricultural business. However, in 1974, everything changed when the Muster and Dreisiebner families jointly laid the foundation for today's operation and began with viticulture and fruit growing. This unique partnership lasted for 26 years. During this time, the basic building structures were created, eight hectares of land were prepared for viticulture, planted with vines and a farm-gate sale and a Buschenschank (inn) were established as a marketing channel. In the year 2000, for health reasons, this business partnership came to an end. Since then, the Muster family has been running this winery as a "single-family business", pursuing further goals in terms of marketing and farm size, as well as a more comprehensive philosophy in the development of the wines. In 2002 a new brand was founded with MUSTER.gamlitz.

Reflecting terroir and minerality is very important to the family. They work a lot with large and small wooden barrels and with MUSTER.gamlitz, they wanted to create extravagant wines and a wine brand to be taken seriously, which would help shape and form the Central European wine landscape. The wines are divided into a youthful, fresh "Klassik" line, a "Reverenz" line with a bold and rich character, as well as wines from the "Grubthal" site. The latter is considered a particularly valuable and exceptional vineyard. Very special soil conditions and microclimates characterize these wines. In exceptional vintages, the best berries are selected, carefully processed into wine and left in the barrels until bottling. All this effort has definitely paid off and brought a lot of success!
