Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

If a winemaker like Jürgen Pfirmann presents five different Weissburgunders at once, we can safely assume that he is an expert in this grape variety. Pfirmann farms fourteen hectares Wollmesheimer Mütterle und Ilbesheimer Kalmit – in tune with nature – of vines in sites like the Wollmesheimer Mütterle and Ilbesheimer Kalmit with various soil profiles, which offer the possibility of different Weissburgunder interpretations. The powerful “Reserve” is matured in 500-litre oak barrels and stands at the top of his convincing quality pyramid. Also, his Spätburgunder from the Kalmit site shows provenance and is characterised by chalky minerality. Compliments!
