Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

Sankt Annaberg was created when Napoleon had a garrison built for his troops here. “This place has always been about food and drink,” reports Victoria Lergenmüller who took over the running of the estate in 2012 at the age of 21. Her focus is on Riesling, grown on limestone, Triassic sandstone and rare slate and beautifully interpreted accordingly. By now Victoria Lergenmüller also makes a remarkable Spätburgunder. One thing was clear for this winemaker from the start: she wanted to reveal „the real character of these wines. There is nothing worse than compliant wines,“ she says. Evidently, she is doing a great job!
