The Wagram, with its varied plateaus and slopes, offers the ideal conditions for Gerhard Ehn to produce high-quality wines in conscious harmony with nature. In 2003, the young vintner took over the family business and modernised it step by step, including the construction of a new cellar. The labels were also modified to a simplified more expressive look. Gerhard Ehn uses modern cellar techniques and gentle treatment of the grapes to achieve the full potential of his splendid wines. Depending on the variety and vintage, the wines are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or sometimes even in barriques.
The main focus of the winemaker is on Grüner Veltliner. Four different vinification methods have made it possible to produce a range of high-quality wines, from the light, flinty summer wine "Swing" to the full-bodied top Grüner Veltliner "Mordthal", with something for every taste. The varieties Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Chardonnay, Riesling, Frühroter Veltliner and Gelber Muskateller round off the range of white wines. The red wine Zweigelt is vinified both classically and in barriques. The aim of the up-and-coming winery is to produce excellent wines with modern cellar technology and a great deal of harmony with nature, wines that are simply a pleasure to drink.
