Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

The Grill vineyard, which covers about ten hectares and is located in Fels am Wagram and managed by Gudrun Grill-Gnauer, is constantly on the move. Since September 2020, the vineyards have been converted to organic cultivation. The Grill wine farm is very intensively engaged with Grüner Veltliner, which finds excellent conditions on the Wagram - a loess embankment that accompanies the Danube like a second natural bank over a distance of 30 kilometres. The palette ranges from light, fruity wines to powerful, grown-up wines. The winemaker pays special attention to the Roter Veltliner: The old, almost forgotten variety is produced year on year to a very high quality. But also Rieslings attain their full aroma with a very balanced acidity on the deep loess soils. Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay find their purpose with the perfectly harmonised 'Emilia' Cuvee. When it comes to red wine, Weinhof Grill concentrates fully on Zweigelt.

Gudrun Grill-Gnauer's philosophy is to produce wines that are easy and uncomplicated to drink and fun to drink, but also wines that bring power and finesse and are suitable for longer storage.
