Falstaff Wineguide Austria/South Tyrol 2021/22

What nature started is continued and completed with the greatest care at the Waldschütz winery. In doing so, the family relies on the viticultural knowledge of generations going back 150 years and on their clear instinct. The 18 hectares of vineyards are located on predominantly sunny slopes in the well-known wine-growing regions of Wagram and Kamptal. On primary rock, sandy loam and loess-gravel soils, as well as on deep loam-loess soils, fruity, elegant wines are created from there. In dealing with the vineyards, great importance is attached to the optimal care of the vines and the preservation of healthy, living soils.

Even though each vintage has its own characteristics, the wine style of the Waldschütz family remains unmistakable. The single-varietal wines of the "Hof", "Gebiet" and "Ort" lines are classically vinified and develop in a particularly fine and typical manner. The wines with vineyard names such as Brunnthal, Anzenthal and Goldberg, with their straightforward style and elegant fruit, particularly do credit to their provenance. In the "Winzer" series, you can see the passion with which work is done here.

Four times a year, the whole family also runs its own Heurigen in Obernholz in the Kamptal, where the wines are served surrounded by the vines with typical Heurigen dishes and homemade pastries. The best way to taste and buy the wines is to make an appointment by phone at the winery in Sachsendorf am Wagram and at the "TOP-Heurigen" in Obernholz.
