Actor Sam Neill Puts His Original NZ Vineyard up for Sale
Sam Neill is selling his original vineyard in New Zealand.
Film actor Sam Neill, the founder of the Two Paddocks winery, is putting his original New Zealand vineyard up for sale. Local media reported that Neill was reluctantly selling his 8.3-hectare Gibbston Back Road property. ‘‘Two Paddocks is expanding and diversifying, and rationalising some aspects of what we do,’’ Neill told the Otago Daily Times newspaper. The certified organic vineyard’s 4.6ha of Pinot Noir vines had produced many award-winning wines, but ‘‘it’s just a little far from our core business near Alexandra and Bannockburn’’.
Acclaimed Pinot Noir
Neill, who had roles in Jurassic Park and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, established Two Paddocks, with the first grapes planted in the Gibbston Valley in 1993, and the first vintage in 1997. Pinot Noirs from its four vineyards have won international acclaim, with Wine Enthusiast rating the 2018 vintage 94 points out of 100 and Falstaff awarding its 2012 Last Chance Pinot Noir 94 points.
