Buenos Aires to Create Wine District to Showcase Argentine Wine
Buenos Aires Is Creating a Wine District to Showcase Argentina's Regions.
New Wine District
Buenos Aires has approved the creation of a wine district in the central northwest of Argentina's capital. Local media reported that the neighbourhood will feature wine bars, cellars, tasting centres, wine schools, gastronomy and even a wine museum. The Buenos Aires legislature last week approved the new district, located between the neighborhoods of Villa Devoto, La Paternal and Villa del Parque.
The initiative, which is slated to run until 2035, is a public-private partnership between Buenos Aires city, wine regions and producers. Mendoza is the most important wine region of Argentina, wiith more than 150,000 hectares of vineyards. Buenos Aires' government has already turned various under-developed neighborhoods into districts focused on sectors like technology, arts and design.
