First Female CEO to Take Over Château Lafite
A bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild 2000
First female CEO
From December, group chairwoman Saskia de Rothschild will take over the executive management of DBR Lafite. She will fully take control from her father, Baron Eric de Rothschild and manage the châteaux and estates of the family.
Saskia shared recently, “For four years, Jean-Guillaume Prats has helped breathe new life into all of our estates and we are extremely grateful to him.” Born in 1987, Saskia was an investigative journalist for The New York Times. In 2018, she made Bordeaux history by becoming the first woman and the youngest person to lead a first growth – a wine classification term for the top wines of Bordeaux. Now she has become the first female CEO of Domaines Baron de Rothschild Lafite in the 150 years of Rothschild family ownership.
Domaines Baron de Rothschild says it owns about 1,200 hectares of vineyards, including the Grands Crus Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Duhart-Milon in Pauillac, Château Rieussec in Sauternes and Château L'Evangile in Pomerol. Château Lafite Rothschild was the start of the DBR (Lafite) Group. It was the first Château acquired by the Rothschild family in 1868.
