The mayor of Brignoles, Didier Brémond, has personally greeted George and Amal Clooney at their newly-purchased 172-hectare/425-acre Provence estate, which was built in the 18th century. He tweeted a photo of himself between the Hollywood actor and lawyer, saying “It’s now official, George and Amal Clooney are residents of our beautiful commune.”

Brémond said in his July 23 tweet that the couple invited him to Domaine du Canadel. The property includes a tennis court, swimming pool, lake and olive groves as well as its own vineyard. It’s not known whether the Clooneys would like to try their hand at winemaking themselves.

Selling price: €7.9 million
The main residence is an old farmhouse that was extensively restored in 1993 and finally put up for sale for €7.9 million. The sale to the Clooneys earlier this year was reportedly contested by another buyer. The house is surrounded by vines and is known for its picturesque gardens, which are among the most beautiful in Provence.

The Clooneys aren’t the only celebrities who have fallen for the charm of the southern French region. Actor Brad Pitt and director George Lukas both have estates nearby.
