Historical luxury on Lošinj: the villas of Čikat Bay

At the end of the 19th century, when the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy discovered the beauty of the Adriatic with its mild, soothing climate and started vacationing around the many islands, villa-like guesthouses were built on the coast of Lošinj, perfectly showcasing the splendor of the Belle Époque. Anyone walking along Čikat Bay today and observing the sunlight glittering on the turquoise sea will inevitably feel the luxury and prestige of the days of yore. Five of the historic villas, some of built in the Art Nouveau or Venetian revival style, have been lovingly restored. Today, they are part of the luxurious "Boutique Hotel Alhambra" and epitomize the charm of the island. You could almost say that they are inseparable from the breathtaking beauty of Lošinj.
