This autumn, fire and (culinary) fury will have a new home in the heart of Stockholm when chef Michael Andersson – crowned Sweden’s Chef of the Year 2024 – brings his vision of a modern grill restaurant to town. Named Sperling & Co, Andersson dedicates his latest project to the arcane art of fire and grill mastery – deeply rooted in European traditions yet shaped by a contemporary, international outlook. The name pays homage to Sperlingens Backe, a historic neighbourhood dating back to the 17th century. “Calling the restaurant Sperling & Co felt natural,” Andersson explains. “It’s a nod to the area’s history but also a way of showing that we are part of the place, not just another operator moving in.”
