Margaret "Margarita" Sames, a wealthy lady of American high society who was known for her extravagant and glamorous parties, created a new cocktail for one of her soirees by mixing two of her favourite spirits together: Tequila and Cointreau. 

The drink was a resounding success and it became one of the most famous and popular cocktail classics of all time. 

Ingredients

Cointreau
5
cl
Blanco tequila
2
cl
fresh lime juice

Preparation:
Wet the rim of the glass with lime juice and dip into a shallow bowl of salt. Mix all the ingredients with ice in a cocktail mixer.
Shake well and strain into a margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
