Patrick Bayer shares the same passion as his father Heribert Bayer: the creation of outstanding wines that uncompromisingly embody the variety, provenance and vintage, as well as his personal signature. As one of the few négociants in Austria, Patrick Bayer has been following in his father Heribert's footsteps for over 15 years, producing his wines where he considers the expressiveness and typicity of the grape varieties to be exemplary.
In addition to the great ageing certain ageing potential of the wines, the house is known above all for its impressive depth of vintage and its grown-up red wines. This is because Heribert and Patrick Bayer give their wines a great deal of time and care. To this day, the winery plays a pioneering role in the German-speaking world in this respect. With their award-winning wines from the "In Signo" series, you can choose from up to ten different vintages. The wines are named OF the family's zodiac signs - Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Taurus - and are multi-layered, concentrated with fruit and velvety tannins.
In addition to the cuvée "In Signo Leonis", which has regularly appeared in the best lists since 1997, the house's flagship wines include the single-varietal parade Blaufränkisch "In Signo Sagittarii", whose grapes come from vineyards over 70 years old in the top Hochberg vineyard in Neckenmarkt. For some years now, the white wine rarity "Albatros" has also been among the best Chardonnays in the country, making the hearts of BURGUNDY fans beat faster. With the 2017 vintage, Patrick Bayer delved deeper into the creation of flint wine and immediately conquered the country's best list with his single-varietal PINOT Noir rosé flint wine "In Signo Aquarii".
Since March 2020, the winery has also regularly hosted online themed tastings via Facebook and Instagram. Wine lovers from all over the world can have the wines sent to them in advance and then taste them live from home. Many guests take part, including fellow winemakers, sommeliers and musicians. Private and virtual wine tastings for groups and teams are also organized on an ongoing basis.
