The Kolkmann winery is, in the true sense, a family winery with four generations living and working in harmony. The teamwork and unity within the family are decisive factors for the success of the family winery. The values of authenticity, trust, and reliability are reflected in the wines.
The estate cultivates 60 hectares of vineyards in Fels am Wagram. The fertile loess soil sites are among the best in the region and reflect the taste of the Wagram terroir. The Kolkmann winery is "Sustainable Austria"-certified and has been farming organically since 2021, thus consolidating its future viability for the next generation. Winemakers Horst, Gerhard and Horst Jr. Kolkmann work tirelessly to maintain the natural balance in the vineyards and create vibrant and profound wines. They passionately focus on the Grüner Veltliner and the Roter Veltliner varieties. These wines exemplify the Wagram region more than any other variety. However, the Kolkmann family also values other grape varieties and cultivates and nurtures them with the same attentiveness as the Veltliners. Because at the winery, diversity is a way of life.
The range is well structured, with the Gebietsweine (regional wines) forming the basis. The Grüner Veltliner Fruchtspiel & co offers that fruity temptation to the world of Wagram wines.
With the Ortswein (village wines) produced by the Kolkmann family, one can experience the profundity of the loess sites of Fels, with the Grüner Veltliner expressing its spicy character to the full. The single vineyard wines are dominated by the superbly opulent Gruner Veltliner and Roter Veltliner from the top sites of Brunnthal and Scheiben. This is rounded off by a magnificently succulent Riesling from the Fumberg vineyard.
The wines can be sampled and purchased on-site, with a stunning view over the Wagram landscape. The spacious ambience offers a multitude of possibilities to taste all the wines with friendly, competent assistance. The personal touch is the essence of this family-run winery.
