There is probably no other region in Italy whose history has been shaped as much by its location as Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which lies at the northernmost point of the Mediterranean and at the eastern gateway to the Italian peninsula. At this intersection, a diverse identity has developed, in which many other factors play a role alongside language, territory and political organization: Customs, rituals, traditions, a sense of history and common destiny, consciousness and will. Among these elements, food, in a broader sense gastronomy, also finds its place; in an everyday life that consists of products and recipes that are laden with memories. Dishes and ingredients that become a contemporary homage to taste, skillfully enhanced and modernized by passionate restaurateurs. Once again this year, we enjoyed this gastronomic journey of taste and discovery to the full: from trattorias to the most modern fine-dining restaurants, via osterias and bistros, we experienced the entire gastro-cultural wealth of this region. We discovered new restaurants and were able to confirm the excellence of others. Like the Agli Amici in Udine, which is at the top of the winners' podium in 2024. The Scarello family serves a firework display of fine food in a wonderful ambience. A unique experience! So let's set off on an enjoyable journey through Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
