Wellness World Heritage Site: UNESCO honours spa town

Recently, the Bohemian spa town of Marienbad has been allowed to call itself part of the "Great Spas of Europe". With this title, UNESCO honored the city in the Czech Republic as a World Heritage Site for its wellness tradition.

Recently, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awarded prizes to spas that can look back on a particularly long history and can therefore confidently call themselves the "Great Spas of Europe". Marienbad, located in the West Bohemian spa triangle, can now proudly bear this title. Wellness is now officially recognized as a World Heritage Site. The influence on modern European cities, the testimony of a cultural tradition, a unique urban typology and the paving of the way for a transnational culture were UNESCO's criteria for inclusion on the list.
