Holders of passports from Japan, Singapore and South Korea enjoy the most significant global access based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The new Henley Passport Index ranks these passports as the most powerful in 2022, their holders can travel to more than 190 countries visa-free or with visa-on-arrival. However, these travellers are currently the most reluctant to enjoy their travel freedom. Passenger demand in the Asia-Pacific region has only reached 17 per cent of pre-Covid levels, according to IATA. This figure is far behind the global trend, where markets in Europe and North America have recovered to around 60 per cent of pre-crisis travel levels.
