Summer is here and it's time to embrace mouth-wateringly ripe strawberries. They are one of the easiest fruits to grow yourself or just head down to your local market if that's all a bit too much effort. The vitamin C-rich fruit can be eaten alone as a dessert, perhaps with a dollop of cream or yoghurt, used a pastry or pie filling or for preserves. But don't feel you have to keep it sweet – strawberries are also great to add to salads or even gnocchi.
