The origins of the espresso martini lie in London during the go-go 1980s: Back in 1983, a bartender called Dick Bradsell was mixing up a future icon in a small bar in Soho. It was no coincidence, but a moment of inspiration. A then-unknown model walked in and ordered something to "wake her up and start the party at the same time". Bradsell grabbed a fresh cup of espresso that was still steaming, mixed it with vodka and coffee liqueur and – presto! – the Espresso Martini was born, then still known as a"Vodka Espresso".
