With its half-timbered architecture, the estate is a charming attraction. The kitchen serves dishes that are anything but ordinary. The carpaccio made from organic roast beef or roebuck, in particular, is simply divine. It pairs perfectly with the estate’s own Blanc de Noirs zero dosage.
The whole family contributes to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Son Michael sources traditional Styrian wines, while senior owner Josef distills schnapps and cures the meat. His game specialties are particularly well-known. Mom Waltraud lives for cooking—her Cremeschnitte is the best.
The vineyards have slopes of up to 115%; a top seller is the “Gamsbock” cuvée, made from five DAC wines. In addition to the classics, the kitchen offers specialties such as a quince medley with soft cheese, air-dried raw ham, or pork knuckle with six side dishes.
Everything is made in-house at this family-run business: hearty snacks, crusty bread, and traditional pastries are freshly prepared and served. It tastes especially good in the summer in the idyllic outdoor seating area with its vine-covered arbor.
A truly lovely spot, especially under the shady, vine-covered arbor. The menu offers a variety of hearty snacks. The pumpkin seed oil scrambled eggs are also very tempting—and even more so are the Buchteln with vanilla sauce or the cinnamon roll.
