Swiss food truck wins European Street Food Award
The Swiss food truck Jaybees is the first purely plant-based entrant to take home the European Street Food Award. Proprietors George and Jeanette delighted the jury with Korean wings made from cauliflower and hot dogs with carrots instead of sausage.
Switzerland has a new culinary champion – and they cooks entirely plant-based: Jaybee's food truck, already a two-time winner of the Swiss Street Food Awards, has won the European Street Food Award 2025 in Munich, the first time the prestigious title has gone to a vegan concept.
Jeanette and George, the founders and operators of Jaybees, won over the international jury with an uncompromisingly sustainable menu: Korean wings made deep-fried cauliflower that uses the entire vegetable (zero waste) and a Brooklyn brioche dog with glazed carrots as a sausage alternative.
The combination of creativity, textural interplay and environmental awareness not only earned the Swiss team the grand prize, but also the Sustainability Award. Jeanette was overwhelmed: "When our name was called, we were completely speechless. Competing against so many strong teams – and then winning as a purely vegan concept – that feels incredible!"
The next awards
The next Swiss Street Food Awards will be held in all three language regions for the first time in 2026 – with regional finals in French-speaking Switzerland, Ticino and German-speaking Switzerland. As usual, a grand national final will decide who will represent Switzerland at the European Street Food Awards 2026.
