Viennese hotel icon is one of the "50 Best Hotels 2025"
The "50 Best Hotels" in the world have just been selected with great anticipation. An Austrian hotel icon has made it into the prestigious ranking and "Rosewood Hong Kong" takes first place.
The world eagerly awaits the prestigious list every year: for the third time, the Academy has honored the "World's 50 Best Hotels". For the first time, Austria can look forward to a place in the ranking. The world's best hotel is the "Rosewood Hong Kong" and the "Passalacqua" on Lake Como tops the list in Europe.
Hotel Sacher is one of the "50 Best Hotels" worldwide
The judges of "The Word's 50 Best" praised "the perfect blend of tradition, luxury, cultural significance and the well-known Austrian warmth" of the hotel, which opened in Vienna in 1876, and therefore ranked it 49th. It was once opened by Eduard Sacher, the son of the inventor of the original Sacher-Torte, Austria's most famous chocolate specialty. The 150th anniversary of the symbol of Viennese hospitality is coming up next year.
Asia is ahead in terms of hospitality
At the awards ceremony in London last night, October 30, it was once again clear that Asia sets the standard for luxury and hospitality.
1st place goes to the "Rosewood Hong Kong". The 65-storey luxury hotel opened in 2019 and offers views of Hong Kong's harbor and skyline. Designed by the renowned Taiwanese designer Tony Chi, the modern house combines contemporary design with Asian elegance. The multi-award-winning "Asaya Wellness Center" also impressed the jury.
In second place is the "Four Seasons Bangkok" on the Chao Phraya River. This urban hideaway right on the banks of the river is located in the creative heart of the Thai capital. The jury praised the mix of modern design and tropical elegance as well as the outstanding service that makes the hotel an oasis in the midst of vibrant city life.
Third place among the world's best hotels also goes to a hotel in Asia. Also in Bangkok and surrounded by lush gardens on the east bank of the Chao Phraya is the "Capella Bangkok", last year's top performer. With its contemporary architecture, exceptional cuisine and personal service, the hotel remains a flagship of the Asian luxury hotel industry, according to the judges.
"Passalacqua" triumphs in Europe
Europe shines with the "Passalacqua" on Lake Como (4th place), which was awarded "Best Boutique Hotel". With only 24 rooms and an unmistakable Italian charm, it remains the ultimate for travelers seeking exclusivity and intimacy.
Winner of the continents
In the Middle East, "Atlantis The Royal" in Dubai (6th place) triumphed as "Best Beach Hotel", while the legendary "Chablé Yucatán" in Mexico (8th place) was named "Best Hotel in North America".
Australia is represented by the elegant "Capella Sydney" (12th place) - awarded "Best Hotel in Oceania". In Africa, the magnificent "Royal Mansour Marrakech" (13th place) tops the list.
