The red wine Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Ripe al Convento DOCG, vintage 2012 from the winery Marchesi Frescobaldi has been rated in 2018 by Othmar Kiem with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sangiovese from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Brilliant, rich ruby with a fine garnet rim. Opens with notes of olive paste and flint, then lots of ripe wild raspberry and blackberry, very inviting. Substantial and dense in the attack and course, showing fine fruit, lots of cherry and blackberry, some cranberry, opens with sturdy, dense tannin, very well integrated, fine resinous notes on the finish.
