The island also boasts new landscape formations created after the volcanic eruption of Cumbre Viejo in 2021. The volcano route stretches over 20 kilometers across the island. It connects El Paso, Mazo and Fuencaliente. Well-marked and with quite challenging climbs, it is peppered with varied views of a charming landscape. Cycling fans set off on the 35-kilometer route around the Cubre Vieja. It leads through the vegetation between the sea on one side and volcanic cones on the other.
