"Live Music" Wineries in Austria
A breath of fresh air every year: the now pop-up heuriger keeps moving. In 2025, the MAST team led by Matthias Pitra and Steve Breitzke provides fresh impetus. Natural wines, home-grown vegetables and, of course, the much-loved Leberkäse.
The sisters are a little deep with their own description: "Traditional Heurigen food, combined with our regional wines". Because with ideas and passion, it becomes a top address. The latest coup is the themed wine tavern "Brot & Sprudel".
Although Tyrolean-born Norbert Walter spent a long time working in cheese production, he has lived in Vienna since 1989. He has been running his wine tavern on the Bisamberg since 2004. Burgundy varieties thrive particularly well there, and of course there is Tyrolean bacon and cheese to go with it.
Johanna "Pipsi" Gebeshuber bustles around between the horse stables and the Römermaut, in two parlours of the elongated courtyard. The born hostess makes sure that the fried chicken and oven roast taste good. Or she makes sure that the Zierfandler doesn't run out. Perfect!
A cosy place of power with a magical garden and a source of sophisticated, creative delights. Classics such as the runner bean salad and Mangalitza snack are just as delicious as the popular savoury Sterz with sour cream and gnocchi. New on offer are the non-alcoholic sparkling teas.
An exceptional wine tavern! The focus is on home-made delicacies from the Mangalitza pigs that are kept on the farm: various bacon specialities from loin to lardo as well as blunze and liver spread. There is also good wine from the house and from friends to accompany the pork.
The beautiful vaulted ceiling has been restored with a great sense of style, and the beautiful garden also invites you to linger. Jürgen Steindorfer brings together the best wines from the region and serves them with creative seasonal delicacies and regional classics.
The hosts Doris and Michael, a well-coordinated team in search of that special drop, are passionate about wine. The chef shines with ideas such as the "Weinzeitburger": Surschopf with wine coleslaw in a Wachauer Weckerl. Original and really good.
Whether in the beautiful guest garden or in the cosy parlour, you immediately feel at home here. The venison specialities are an excellent choice: salad with venison boiled fillet, venison aspic and meat loaf impress with their intense flavour and top quality.
Arrive and feel right at home: This works particularly well between the steep vineyards - and it's also a great place to spend the night. The Brettljause is richly topped, the radish and scarlet runner bean salad is a classic. Michi Lorenz provides a wide range of wines.
A pretty traditional restaurant with an adjoining conservatory overlooking the vineyards of the Gaas vineyard. Fine caraway roast and seasonal gourmet specialities from 5 pm to accompany the always "groszartigen" wines. Always open on request: Rarities and large bottles.
At the large winery in a marvellous location, guests have to decide on a culinary direction: The Buschenschank classics live up to their name, while the gourmet menu offers five to seven courses. A wine tasting is also worthwhile!
Sip by sip, we go on a little wine journey – relaxed, uncomplicated and true to the motto: whatever tastes good is allowed. Meanwhile, a paprika chicken with homemade dumplings made according to grandma's recipe is good for the gastronomic soul. This is pure soul food!
Elisabeth and Johannes Rittsteuer have created a Mediterranean, relaxed place to enjoy their organic wines. Cheese and olives are the minimum requirements for wine lovers. Fridays, when they always serve freshly baked Buchteln, have become a firm favourite.
A classic Heuriger in Vienna's Ottakring with a rustic atmosphere. All the classic delicacies of a typical Viennese Heuriger are set out on the buffet - including homemade pastries. Viennese songs are also sung here.
Popular wine tavern in Großjedlersdorf in Vienna's 21st district. In the meantime, they also cook up a big meal here - with up to seven-course menus. Baked cod and grilled char are served every Friday. The foam rolls are also outstanding.
At the farm you are immersed in a world full of art, wine and enjoyment. Each wine is full of character and bears the signature of the dynamic winemaker. You can also savour spreads, homemade sausages, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes. Fine desserts.
In addition to classic snacks, the menu of delicacies in the beautiful Heurigen deserves particular attention. It features creative seasonal specialties such as "Blunzencarpaccio" or "Dreierlei von der Ofenentomate". A feast for the eyes and the palate - just like the wines.
Special attention is paid to the in-house production of meaty delicacies for the snack platters. But you can also enjoy lighter and more modern dishes - preferably, of course, with a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace.
Typically Burgenland: a spacious courtyard, surrounded by oleanders and filled with hearty laughter. Regional specialities are prepared here with love. Chef and herbalist Ulli surprises with delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes.
