Food-Fauxpas in Wimbledon? Tennis ace Iga Świątek loves strawberry pasta
The storied tournament was not the only thing Iga Świątek upset: her fondness for an unusual flavor profile also shocked spectators.
Five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Świątek has caused a sensation both on and off the grass at Wimbledon: After her triumphant 6:2, 6:3 victory over Danielle Collins, she revealed an unusual favorite dish in her post-game interview and on Instagram: Pasta with strawberries - a nostalgic dish popular in her native Poland.
While more than 35 tons of strawberries are consumed – usually with cream – at the All England Club per tournament, Świątek prefers this dish she's loved since childhood. "Why is it such a big deal? Everyone should eat it," she said with a laugh in the interview. "I think a lot of children here in Poland eat it in summer. It's simply the perfect blend of flavors."
