Conti Zecca winery is one of the most historical wineries in Southern Italy, run today by the four brothers Zecca Alcibiade, Francesco, Luciano, Mario and Mario's son, Clemente. The family keeps on pursuing the path set by their ancestors with the same passion and dedication, from the selection of the ideal environment and clones to the planting of the vineyard; from the choice of the ideal agronomic techniques and grape harvesting time to the wine making; from the bottling to the marketing, for the production of high quality wines. The idea of viticulture is focused on ensuring that the vineyard is kept in stable conditions to achieve the best results while minimizing the need for human interventions. Nowadays, the vineyards of a forward-looking winemaker require less manual labor and more of a strategic approach. In the development of their strategy, winemakers must understand how to balance effectively soils and vines, enhance natural resistances, and create an environment where indigenous traits can reach their full expression. Over time, the identity of the people and the place has overlapped, binding memory and nature together. A harmonious co-existence brought about by passion and respect, guarded peacefully and discreetly by those involved in the diligent work of Conti Zecca. This spirit permeates Conti Zecca wines, which tell a story of quality founded on the native grape varieties like Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia Bianca, as well as select non-native varieties that are well adapted to the territory of Salento.
