The Ploder-Rosenberg winery, located in the Styrian volcanic region with its eleven hectares of vineyards, is an oasis of biodiversity and stands for wines with a strong character. The biodynamic farming methods practiced since 2006 are bearing tangible fruit.
With Manuel Ploder and Selina Weratschnig, the next generation is taking over the further development and the wines are gaining in character. Time plays a key role here - or rather, giving and letting time develop. Mashing times, natural sedimentation, spontaneous fermentation (free from temperature intervention) and malolactic fermentation are responsible for the development of the wines. A long contact time on the full lees brings balanced, harmonious and digestible wines into the bottle.
Three lines offer a choice of multi-faceted wine styles: the point is formed by individual dry and light cuveés that are fun to drink. The heart of the line is the "Linea" line: these wines ferment and mature for many years in 600-litre oak barrels with long yeast contact. With depth, minerality and expressive complexity, they show character, variety and soil on the palate and impress with their longevity. The third line, consisting of true gems from the amphora, is amber coloured yet fluid. As whole berries and grapes, they are fermented on the skins for a very long time, matured into essences and stored - preferred vintages from these result in high-quality, multi-dimensional "wine works" with the names "Aero", "Tero", "Fejro" and "Maro" (air, earth, fire and water).
