Rich, dark ruby with violet highlights. Opens on the nose with subtle earthy notes, hints of mushrooms and tar, followed by plenty of elderberry and dark cherries—clear. Rich on the palate from the first sip through the finish, it builds nicely, opening up with tannins that are pronounced yet surprisingly smooth for a Lagrein, with subtle chocolate notes on the finish.
