Falstaff Sommelier Awards 2027 come to the Nordics

Wine

Sweden and Denmark Crown their Best Sommeliers at Two Gala Award Nights.

Falstaff brings its Sommelier Award Nights to the Nordics for the first time. After honouring the region’s leading restaurants and hotels, Falstaff now turns the spotlight on the people who shape every great wine experience: the sommeliers. Two gala evenings will celebrate the best of the profession — in Stockholm on Sunday, 30 August 2026, and in Copenhagen on Monday, 31 August 2026.

The Falstaff Sommelier Award Nights celebrate excellence in the world of wine and gastronomy. Set in an elegant atmosphere, each evening combines fine dining, carefully curated wines and a glamorous award ceremony, bringing together leading figures from the wine, gastronomy and hospitality industries. The Falstaff Sommelier Awards 2027 offer a distinguished platform to recognise outstanding expertise, passion and dedication — celebrating the very best sommeliers of each country.

Sommeliers are the bridge between cellar and kitchen, between the winemaker’s signature and the guest’s pleasure. With expertise, instinct and a sense of quality, they make wine tangible and a restaurant visit unforgettable. From a wealth of exceptional talent across Sweden and Denmark, the Falstaff editorial team selects the winners — the personalities who have stood out over the course of the year and who enrich the wine and restaurant scene in each country.

Two nights, two national partnerships

Under the motto “Partners in Wine,” Falstaff presents the best sommeliers together with its sponsors and partners. In each country, the awards are staged in cooperation with the national sommelier association:

  • Sweden — Stockholm, Sunday, 30 August 2026. In partnership with Svenska Sommelierföreningen, Sweden’s best sommeliers will be honoured during a festive gala evening.
  • Denmark — Copenhagen, Monday, 31 August 2026. In partnership with Dansk Sommelier Forening, the “Award Night of the Sommeliers” follows the Danish Sommelier Championships, with the celebration dinner and ceremony taking place the afternoon and evening.

The categories

The Falstaff Sommelier Awards 2027 will be presented across a range of categories, such as best sparkling wine list, best wine list up to 200 wines, wines by the glass, Austrian wines, best wine list from Italy, best list of alcohol-free beverages, natural wine list, and Rookie Sommelier of the Year. An expert jury of wine specialists and top sommeliers selects the winners.

The awards are presented by “Partners in Wine”, who support and sponsor the awards with a host guiding each evening alongside the Falstaff Editors-in-Chief.
