The Raw Pour: Riga Hosts Its First Massive Natural Wine Festival at VEF Kvartāls
As spring turns to summer, the spotlight on May 30th is not on stiff-collared masterclasses, but on a truly unique, first-of-its-kind event for the city: the UNFILTERED natural wine festival.

Taking over the VEF Kvartāls promenade on an unprecedented scale, the event gathers over 40 independent European winemakers. Leaving the usual wine-world stuffiness at the door, guests receive a professional Gabriel-Glas for unlimited tastings of more than 250 different bottles of low-intervention, biodynamic, and orange wines. Treating the experience less like a formal exam and more like a vibrant block party, the festival pairs these rare pours with street food and oyster bars.
Vinyl DJs will be spinning records all evening, building up to a live headline set by funk and hip-hop legends ASM (A State of Mind) and keeping the energy high late into the night—because, naturally, all that open wine needs to be finished. This is a refreshing cultural shift for the region. Right now, that story is poured straight into your glass.
