The red wine Merlot Nussleiten DOC, vintage 2012 from the winery Castel Sallegg has been rated in 2016 by Othmar Kiem with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Alto Adige in Italy.
Brilliant, intense ruby with garnet glints. Appealing, open nose with pronounced notes of ripe blackberry, some cassis, underpinned by subtly savoury aromas, exciting. Powerful on the palate, spreads with persistence, ripe dark berry fruit, opens with pithy, dense tannin, fine texture, lots of tobacco on the finish.
