The red wine Weingarten Klosteranger Lagrein Riserva Südtirol DOC, vintage 2016 from the winery Klosterkellerei Muri-Gries has been rated in 2021 by Othmar Kiem und Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Lagrein from the region Alto Adige in Italy.
Rich, impenetrable ruby purple with a black core. Very dense nose with notes of mulberry and elderberry, plus some resinous savoury components, some pine needles and white pepper. Full on the palate, very juicy, amazingly fresh fruit, mulberry and black cherry, hearty, multilayered tannin, tobacco on the finish.
