The red wine Jewelstone Antoine, vintage 2018 from the winery Mission Estate Winery has been rated in 2021 by Anne Krebiehl MW with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot from the region Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
A touch of buttermilk mingles with the plum and blackcurrant notions on the nose before a slight smokiness takes over. The palate whispers of stone and structure with its hints of graphite and tar. The tannins are incredibly sophisticated: superfine, dense, exquisitely ripe but wonderfully taut with just the right degree of astringency. Elegance, poise, class. Drink by 2050.
