Tasting from 03.02.2022: Anne Krebiehl

The striking name of the wine recalls the fact that before the land was planted to vines, it was a tobacco field. Lots of lovely, earthy notions rise from the glass: hints of charcoal and ash but also of rooibos, petrichor and darkest plum. The palate is smooth, as if dark fruit jelly were coated in dark, melting chocolate. The tannins brush gently, are ripe and smooth. But fine freshness sets a counterpoint to keep this on the medium-bodied, juicy side. This is generous but not heavy.
