The red wine Homage, vintage 2018 from the winery Trinity Hill has been rated in 2021 by Anne Krebiehl MW with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
Ripe, red cherry, even cherry pie with cinnamon, meets vivid sprays of white pepper on the nose. This may be an archetype of Kiwi Syrah - as sumptuous and juicy as possible and yet super-spicy and cool. Sunshine takes the fruit heavenward while undeniable structure is anchored deeply in stony definition. There is some thing languid here, despite the stoniness, a seductive subtext that makes this extremely elegant. Drink by 2045.
