The white wine »Geheimrat J« Rheingau Riesling trocken, vintage 1997 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Rheingau has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 95+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Light golden in colour, yet still almost closed on the nose with notes of ripe fruit, apple and wet leaves. A hint of sweetness at the beginning, then soft and buttery on the nose, with a silky texture, yet also firm and long, increasing in extract on the palate, almost chewy, remains homogeneous for an incredibly long time, a wine that combines finesse and power very well.
