The white wine »Geheimrat J« Rheingau Riesling trocken, vintage 1998 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Rheingau has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Light golden. Some yeast, grained broth, blood orange, hazelnut, a hint of slate. Opens clearly sweet on the palate, the acidity remains somewhat defensive, medium extract with massive alcohol, a new style with more power and sweetness, powerful, but less impressive in finesse than the older vintages.
