The orange wine Kalkundkiesel weiß, vintage 2016 from the winery Weingut Claus Preisinger has been rated in 2017 by Peter Moser with 92 - 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Weißburgunder, Grüner Veltliner from the region Lake Neusiedl in Austria.
Medium golden yellow in colour with silver reflections. On the nose, ripe pear fruit is underpinned with hints of dried fruit, subtle notes of meadow herbs and walnut and a touch of minerality. The palate is taut and saline with ripe yellow apple and a subtle sherry/rancio note on the persistent, salty finish. A food wine rich in finesse.
