The powerful nose is still characterised by roasted aromas and new wood, with ripe honeydew melon, pear, floral and buttery notes also present. There's some smoked meat, banana and cookie in the background too, a weighty nose. Soft and supple on the palate with juice and texture but good balance of all the substance, with volume matched by elegance. Mineral tones and salty hints add interest. Sensitive use of wood in this direct style which shows impressive length and lots of ageing potential.
