The red wine Distelwiese Zweigelt, vintage 2012 from the winery Weingut Unger has been rated in 2022 by Peter Moser with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Zweigelt from the region Burgenland in Austria.
It is a dark ruby, with a deep coloured core, purple reflections, and a delicate bright rim. On the nose it is somewhat restrained, with aromas of ripe plum, discreet hints of fig and nougat, and candied orange zest, although it needs some aeration. It is juicy, elegant, with a ripe cherry flavour, fine acidity, velvety tannins, and some chocolate on the finish. It has reached full maturity, and it is a full-bodied food wine with further certain potential.
