Das Gasthaus „zur Dankbarkeit“ wurde von meinem Ur-Großvater (1881 – 1958) gegründet. Er erlernte seinen Beruf in den Jahren 1897 bis 1900 in Wien. Nach vielen Gesellenjahren in Wien verlor er in den Kriegs- und Inflationsjahren seine gesamten Ersparnisse. 1924 eröffnete er in Podersdorf, in seiner Heimatgemeinde, in einem Zinshaus in der Seestraße das Gasthaus „Josef Lentsch“. Im Jahre 1934 erwarb er das noch heute in unseren Besitz befindliches Haus, welches ursprünglich von den Zisterziensermönchen erbaut wurde und auch einem preußischen Grafen als Herberge diente. Dieses Haus wurde als Gasthaus adaptiert und heißt seit dieser Zeit „Zur Dankbarkeit“. Da in diesen Jahren noch kein Tourismus im Seewinkel existierte, war ein zweites Standbein unbedingt erforderlich. So betrieb mein Ur-Großvater schon vom Anfang an Weinbau. Der Wein wurde im Gasthaus ausgeschenkt und an Ausflugsgäste, meist aus Wien, verkauft.<br> <br> 1959 übernahm mein Großvater Josef Lentsch (1926 – 2001) das Gasthaus. Als in den 60er Jahren der Tourismus großen Aufschwung nahm, wurde das Gasthaus renoviert und ausgebaut. Auch der Weinbaubetrieb wurde modernisiert und erweitert. In den 70er Jahren, als die „Hawai-Steak“ die burgenländischen Speisekarten beherrschten, war mein Großvater Mitbegründer der Burgenländisch – Panonnischen Küche und bot so eine willkommene Alternative für Feinschmecker. Bei dieser Landesküche besann man sich wieder auf gewachsene Werte in der heimischen Küche und die Produkte der Region.<br> Seit 1989 wurde die DANKBARKEIT von meinem Vater Josef Lentsch weitergeführt. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail hat er das Gasthaus renoviert und versucht dem Haus etwas von seinem ursprünglichen Charakter und Flair zurückzugeben.<br> <br> Im Jahr 2020 übernahm ich das Gasthaus zur Dankbarkeit. Mein vorrangiges Ziel ist es, Ihnen den Seewinkel kulinarisch, unter Einbeziehung von Tradition und Brauchtum näher zu bringen und Ihnen in unkomplizierter Gasthausatmosphäre ein paar Stunden der Entspannung zu bieten. Ein entscheidender Punkt dabei ist das Verwenden von heimischen Produkten und das nicht nur aus aktuellem Anlass, sondern aus Überzeugung. Mit vielen Produzenten und Lieferanten verbindet uns oft schon eine Jahrzehnte lange Zusammenarbeit.<br>
