Historical Hegra

The hotel beautifully demonstrates how tradition and modernity can coexist in harmony. The city in northwest Saudi Arabia dates back to the 1st century BCE. Positioned along the Incense Route, it boasts a rich history as a trading hub. In 1907, the railway connecting Medina and Damascus passed by the city. The structures of the former railway station have been preserved, serving as a bridge to the past. At the same time, true to The Chedi’s brand DNA, the hotel is an exceptionally luxurious retreat.

Designed by the Milan Design and architecture office Gio Forma entstand ein Ort geprägt von zeitloser Eleganz. Eines der vielen Highlights ist das “Shadow Canopy”. Dabei handelt es sich um eine 700 Meter lange Konstruktion oberhalb historischer Bahngleise. Darunter entstand ein Raum für Reflection and discovery. Travelers will also find a gallery in the Hegra train station. Here you can admire handmade historical objects. Including some that were created from old railroad tracks. This brings the history of the place back to life.

Soul of the region

"We're delighted to welcome guests to The Chedi Hegra, a destination that celebrates AlUla's remarkable history while offering an unparalleled luxury experience," says Mahmoud Sakr, General Manager of The Chedi Hegra. This luxury is exemplified in the 35 suites, rooms, and villas, offering stunning views of the necropolis, dramatic rock formations, and the desert's sand dunes. Guests staying here have the unique opportunity to experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra in the mystical morning light and at sunset.

The hotel's limited number of rooms makes its exceptional service even more evident. Some are integrated into existing structures, featuring original stone walls and historic architectural elements. Guests can also enjoy private terraces and plunge pools. Inside, the legacy of the Nabataeans comes to life. When it comes to cuisine, there’s no need to compromise either.

Enjoy a culinary journey

So spannt die Speisekarte den Bogen vom Mittelmeer bis zu exquisitem High Tea. Das “Prima Classe” serviert nämlich mediterrane Küche aus local ingredients. The Al Mahattah Lounge specializes in international cuisine, gourmet snacks and afternoon tea. For the latter, you can also listen to the in-house storyteller. The Coffee House pays homage to the black gold not only with drinks, but also with brewing and roasting workshops and insights into Saudi coffee culture.

The restaurant is also gradually opening Al Mokhtasarwhich offers romantic dinners and theme evenings, and the Fine dining Local Al Qala’ah. Hier speisen Gäste auf der Dachterrasse mit Blick auf die Wüste. Im Al Mawrid serviert man kulinarische Meisterwerke unter dem unglaublichen Sternenhimmel.

Immerse yourself in culture

Guests seeking tranquility can retreat to the private spa villa with its own pool. Here, spa treatments use the power of regional ingredients, such as dates, rosemary, and moringa, to create moments of pure relaxation. Currently under construction is a 1,200-square-meter spa area, which will soon feature saunas, steam rooms, a pool, and a gym. Notably, the pool is set to become the largest outdoor pool in Hegra.
