Andrea Fenoglio is a force to be reckoned with. His cuisine is varied, impeccably crafted and full of good ideas. He likes to take traditional recipes and interpret them in a modern way. The wine list offers 500 different wines, 20 of which are also available by the glass at a fairly calculated price.
Walk along the promenade to the Römerbrücke bridge - and you've already landed in an extraordinary gastronomic hotspot. There are creative dishes such as polenta soup with squid or oven-baked cauliflower with lemon butter and pistachios. Great wines. There are also regular music events.

The elegant Art Nouveau hotel is home to a top restaurant. The cuisine is as light and airy as the conservatory or the garden pavilion with a view. Local elements blend perfectly with Mediterranean flavors, with plenty of fish on the table, garnished with seasonal vegetables.
Very authentic family restaurant with a small but fine menu. Chef Adriano Donnhauser's dishes have a Roman touch. Meat, fish, or vegetarian main courses are fun, Edvige Simoncelli enchants with sweet creations. All accompanied by well-chosen wines.
You can either sit on the terrace with a view of the promenade or in the stylish indoor area. Sustainable ingredients are used to create sophisticated Italian dishes such as risotto with fried artichokes and limes. Friday is all about fish.
The family business above Merano is particularly rustic and close to nature. Much of what is served on the table is produced in-house, and herbs are used to refine the dishes, such as the homemade basil gnocchi. The grilled lamb variations with roasted bacon dumplings are a dream.
The wood-panelled rooms are decorated in South Tyrolean style. Palm trees grow in the garden and from the terraces you can admire the panorama over the town and up to the peaks of the Texel Group. The traditional and Mediterranean dishes are also a delight.
This wine shop chain, present throughout Italy, also has a location under the Merano arcades. You can buy 1,500 Italian labels or enjoy a glass, especially romantic in the small garden. A small menu with classics from across the Italian regions is also available.
The pride and joy is the home-brewed beer, which can be enjoyed in the shady beer garden in summer. To go with the bock beer and pilsner, the menu features traditional dishes such as bacon snacks, fluffy dumplings and crispy roast chicken, as well as Mediterranean dishes such as fish and pasta.
