The red grape variety is a new breed between Sangiovese x Merlot. The crossing took place at the University of Bologna in Italy. The variety protection was granted in 2007. The medium-ripening vine is resistant to fungal diseases. It is grown in the Italian regions of Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Marche, Tuscany and Veneto.
