The Petrokoritho existed in Greece, especially on the island of Corfu, in a red version and a white version that resulted from mutation. Only the white wine variety, also called Petrokoritho Lefko, survived. The variety, which is resistant to almost all vine diseases, ripens late. It has large clusters with large berries. Originally the Petrokoritho was only native to Corfu, but today it can also be found on the mainland, mainly in the Peloponnese or Euboea. Only a few winemakers dare to develop this variety as a pure variety. In Corfu, the wines of Petrokoritho have less alcohol than the Kakotrigis, which is strongly represented there. Occurrences outside of Greece are not known. .
This grape variety is also known by the name of:
Petrokoritho Mavro
