"Child friendly" Wineries in Styria
The character of southern Styria is perfectly reflected in the Schauer brothers' wines, which are characterised by depth. The snack is also exceptional with ham from the Woazschwein, chili sausages, smoked char, pork brisket and great cake.
Courage for innovation and attention to detail not only characterise Stefan Germuth's excellent wines, the philosophy is also reflected in the Buschenschank. In addition to the organic cheese platter, smoked fish and sheep's cheese wrapped in bacon, the pork brisket is a must.
The 300-year-old press house with cellar has been lovingly restored with attention to detail - just like the beautiful guest rooms. At the table, the focus is on tasteful classic and biodynamic wines as well as award-winning Pet Nat in multiple versions.
A cosy place of power with a magical garden and a source of sophisticated, creative delights. Classics such as the runner bean salad and Mangalitza snack are just as delicious as the popular savoury Sterz with sour cream and gnocchi. New on offer are the non-alcoholic sparkling teas.
Appetisers made from regional ingredients are served in the shade of the fruit trees to accompany the house wines: cured meats Kübelfleisch and Moastabratl are among the guest favourites, followed by some red wine cake or walnut cake.
The view of the countryside and vineyards is unrivalled and the terrace seats are highly sought after. Crispy home-baked bread is accompanied by Kübelfleisch with horseradish and egg, specialities from the region's dwarf zebu cattle, sour pressed sausage and sweets made according to an old recipe.
The sustainably produced, characterful quality wines can be enjoyed with an incomparable view from the summit of the South Styrian Wine Route. Marinated raw ham platter, cheese and smoked fish are a dream; accompanied by house bread with a crispy crust.
Wine and pork - the Trummer family knows a thing or two about it. Aromatic Styrian wines are served in a beautiful location, accompanied by delicious sausage and ham specialties. Bread and pastries are also homemade.
The family-run winery boasts a panoramic view of the wine country and stands for grown-up wines with depth, while typical classics are served in the Buschenschank. In addition to home-made sausages and sour beef, you should also try specialities from their own game hunts.
The far-reaching views as far as Riegersburg Castle and beyond are an attraction for guests, as are the wines produced by the family. The focus is of course on the crisp Schilcher - which goes perfectly with the fine snacks.
When it comes to meat production, they rely on rare breeds and manual labour, which means that unusual delicacies such as raw ham from zebu cattle end up on the snack plate. To drink, there are typical Styrian wines and a wonderfully flint Frizzante.
The whole family helps out at this top-class tavern. Beautifully prepared sandwiches, salads and lots of creative dishes. Hot dishes such as porcini mushroom risotto, desserts and homemade ice cream are also a delight. The fine natural wines are the perfect accompaniment.
Arrive and feel right at home: This works particularly well between the steep vineyards - and it's also a great place to spend the night. The Brettljause is richly topped, the radish and scarlet runner bean salad is a classic. Michi Lorenz provides a wide range of wines.
From the terrace, the views sweep over the hilly landscape of southern Styria. With a crisp Sauvignon blanc shimmering in your glass and a snack board on the table, the picture perfect postcard is complete. The desserts are not to be missed.
At the large winery in a marvellous location, guests have to decide on a culinary direction: The Buschenschank classics live up to their name, while the gourmet menu offers five to seven courses. A wine tasting is also worthwhile!
On clear days, the views sweep over the town of Kitzeck and the Demmerkogel mountain out towards the city of Graz. The culinary delights are also very appealing, with its in-house smoked ham, for example, as well as its classic Styrian wines - both full of flavour.
The range of wines on offer is diverse, all of which reflect the terroir perfectly, especially the Gelber Muskateller. The wines go perfectly with delicacies such as homemade bread with spreads, salami or salads with sheep's cheese and runner beans.
At the farm you are immersed in a world full of art, wine and enjoyment. Each wine is full of character and bears the signature of the dynamic winemaker. You can also savour spreads, homemade sausages, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes. Fine desserts.
These wines with character, including its award-winning Welschriesling, leave you thirsting for more. The Hostess Heidi, always in a good mood, indulges guests with ham charcuterie plates, pâté, bean salad and homemade pastries. Our recommendation: the sweet dough Strauben dessert.
Special attention is paid to the in-house production of meaty delicacies for the snack platters. But you can also enjoy lighter and more modern dishes - preferably, of course, with a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace.
